Our Ministries

Ministry is the way by which we share our gifts from God with others. Be it helping the the poor, tutoring students, or assisting the sick, the common theme of all ministry is the helping of others through our time and efforts. The ministries at St. Joachim come in all shapes and sizes -- from those that only meet once a year to accomplish a specific task to those who meet frequently to provide service to others on a continual basis. St. Joachim also offers the possibility to minister to others in both English and Spanish. Regardless of the ministry, the focus of each one is to provide some sort of service or assistance to others. On this page you will find a complete list of all ministries found at St. Joachim. Contact: Kathy Lewis Adults 18 and older who have been baptized and have received their First Holy Communion, but were never confirmed, find their home in this wonderful program. The program begins each January and continues until confirmation in the spring. Registration required. Material fees apply. |

Contact: Kathy Lewis This committee washes the altar linens that are used at mass. |
|
|
Contact: Mark Foster These young people assist the priest during Mass to prepare the altar for communion. You must be in the 5th grade to become an altar server. Training is provided. Both boys and girls are encouraged to serve. |

Contact: Joanne Martin This committee is responsible for cleaning the vessels and the sacristy. The committee changes flowers. Additionally the committee changes and cleans the holy water fonts. |

Contact: Kathy Lewis At the time of need, our bereavement ministers are available to help families with funeral rites and hospitality. |

Contact: Kathy Lewis This committee is a Catholic faith-based ministry, whose primary focus is to provide spiritual comfort, compassion and practical assistance in a confidential manner to parishioners and families of St. Joachim who are affected by cancer. |

Dominican Laity Chapter of Orange County Contact: George Kubeck OPL, Secretary gmkubeck@aol.com Orange County Chapter meets the last Tuesday of each month from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at St. Joachim Catholic Church, at the Rectory, Annex C. Father Enrique Sera is our Spiritual Advisor. We follow the charism of St. Dominic and his four pillars, Prayer, Study, Community and Preaching of the Truth. |

Contact: Ernesto Morales This ministry is responsible for the decorations in the church. This group meets twice a year to make preparations for Easter and Christmas. You participate with the ideas and implementation of beautifying the church. |

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Visits to Hoag Visits to nursing homes, and shut-ins Those who minister at all masses |

Contact: Kathy Lewis These individuals proclaim the readings during the Mass and read the prayers of the faithful. Training is provided. |

Contact: Hal Romero This ministry has over 70 members here at St. Joachim. It meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month. This group supports priest vocations and scholarships for Catholic School children. |
|

Contact: Andrew Everson This group provides the best music possible to enhance the liturgies and give greater glory to God our Creator. They seek to provide music appropriate for Catholic liturgy that will engage participation through music that includes videos and instruments. This is large ministry and there is much more information to share. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings. |

Contact: Marc & Michelle Redoutey An affiliate of the Couple to Couple League International. CCL Orange County delivers instruction in modern methods of natural family planning to engaged and married couples, providing couples with a medically safe health-promoting, highly effective (99%) and relationship enhancing method of family planning that occurs with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Instruction is provided year-round by certified teaching couples experiences in the practice and promotion of NFP. |

Contact: Parish Office Provide pre-baptism preparation to parents and godparents monthly. Baptisms are held the second Sunday of every month with classes held on the preceding Thursdays. |

Contact: Kim Wiles Our group respects, supports and believes that life starts at conception. While we embrace the entire respect for life movement, our main focus is directed towards the unborn child in the womb. This is the most vulnerable segment of our society. |

Contact: Kathy Lewis Those welcomed into the preparation through a process that includes the candidate joining the community for the Liturgy of the Word on Sunday and then dismissed to study the Word of God. Registration is required. |

Contact: Hal Romero This group meets Wednesday nights in the Annex at 7:30 PM. This group is for those suffering with mental health issues such as anxiety, worry or fear. The group will assist you in dealing with the obstacles and problems of everyday life. |

Religious Education for Children Contact: Kathy Lewis To educate children ages 4 through 6th grade on the Catholic faith.This program is held on Sundays, September through May from 11:15am -12:30pm |

Sacramental Program for Children Contact: Kathy Lewis A two-year process to assist parents in the preparation children for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. |

Contact: Dorothy Riley, President/ Doris Leake, Hospitality This group is targeted to the active mature adults of the parish (55+) who enjoy fellowship, fun and physical activities / tours. This group travels to local site-seeing locations for education and enjoyment. |

Contact: Roxanne LaPuzza For those in need of financial support, individuals can call the hotline to receive assistance for food, rent, transportation assistance, utilities, clothing or lodging. |
